Hate/Love Relationship With Mystery Shopping

I am really liking mystery shopping. Most of the time. I love it when I get an assignment. And I love to see all the assignments posted. But I don't love it when I spend time on one and I don't get paid. I have done a couple of apartment shops, and those have been fun. But there was a mix-up this weekend on one of them--not my fault--and I won't get paid for it. I spent about two hours out of my time, plus the stress of not knowing what to do--and I still don't get paid for it.

I had an audio shop and was assigned to a particular person. You have to call first and do a phone shop on that person. Then you have to go to the complex that same day and do an on-site visitation. You generally use a different name for the phone shop. Well, I called several times, but my person never answered the phone. I was starting to run out of time--the office at the complex was only open until 5, and it was already 3. I tried calling the mystery shopping company--they act like they are always available for questions. Nada a word from them. I emailed and I called. No answer from the shopping company.

So I did what I thought was best--and that was to go on out there. Turns out my target was on vacation. I couldnt' have shopped her anyway. I thought it best to go ahead and do the shop on the person who was there. Well, that was the wrong thing. The shopping company said they can't pay me, because I didn't shop the right person.

That really ticks me off. Their instructions don't say what to do in these instances. And I tried to reach them. And they were no where to be found. I expressed my feelings about this, but they won't budge. I guess I'll put up with it for at least a while because I need the money and it is fun.

But I think they need a mystery shopper to shop them!
